Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long are sessions?
Sessions are 45-50 minutes long. Intake sessions are 55 minutes long as we will be going over more information.
  • How frequently are sessions held?
Sessions are commonly held weekly however an assessment will be made at the intake as to what your specific needs are and then a recommendation will be made if sessions need to be held more or less frequently. This will be frequently assessed as we progress through our sessions together.
  • How much do sessions cost?
45-50 minute sessions are $205 55 minute intakes are $240
  • Do you take insurance?
I do not participate with any insurance plans at this time. You will be billed at the end of the month for all charges that were accumulated during the month. I will provide a superbill that you can take to your insurance company if you have Out of Network (OON) benefits. I would advise you to call your insurance provider and identify what your OON benefits are and the guidelines set out by your insurance provider.
  • Where are sessions held?
I provide both in-person and virtual sessions for clients. I currently am working in person on Mondays and Wednesdays and provide virtual sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In-person sessions will be held at 4405 East West Hwy, Suite 408, Bethesda, MD 20814. If COVID is creating closures, then in-person sessions will be moved to virtual until it is safe to attend sessions in person again. In-person sessions will be held with both client and therapist wearing a mask. Virtual sessions will be conducted using GoogleMeets which is a HIPPA compliant platform to clients located in Maryland or Virginia. You will be provided a link each week. Sessions should be done in a safe, confidential location where you are able to speak freely without concern that others are listening. You will need to be on screen (as will I) so that we can both see each other throughout the session.
  • What states are you licensed in?
I am able to see clients who are physically located in both Maryland and Virginia. Due to current laws I am unable to have virtual sessions if the client is outside of either of those states.
  • What ages do you serve?
I see clients 13 and older. If you are looking for family therapy, your children can be younger.
  • What does the intake process entail?
Intakes will occur after you complete the intake paperwork and it is reviewed by me. In the intake session we will be discussing confidentiality, need for consistent attendance, administrative questions, and then will discuss what is bringing you into therapy and what goals you would like to accomplish. If you are unsure of what you want to work on specifically, it is not a problem; we will work together to identify what you want and how we can work together to accomplish it.
  • If you are working with my child will I meet with you too?
As a parent, it is often difficult to know how much or how little you should interact with your child’s therapist. I request that parents of children 17 and younger attend the intake session with their child so that we can all be on the same page starting out and identify what will be discussed with parents. Following the intake, parents will be invited in for the first 10 minutes of sessions every 4-6 weeks to do a check-in unless it has been identified that this is not appropriate for your family.
  • How will I know if you're the right fit for me?
Finding the right therapist for you can be difficult and feel overwhelming. I offer a free 15 minute consult for you to be able to meet me and see if I can be a good fit. We will also reassess after an average of six (6) sessions to make sure that we are effective as a team to make the progress you want to make.
  • What if I don't know what type of therapy I need?
All the different types of therapy can make things confusing. I work with clients who are struggling with thoughts intruding (CBT) or if they are struggling with their emotions being overwhelming and seem to take control (DBT). If you are struggling to identify what type of therapy works the best, it is all right to come to therapy and not know. As I work with you, I can help you identify what works best with how you think.
  • How do I start the process?
Send me a message! We will then identify when to schedule your 15 minute free consult call or your intake appointment. You will be sent an intake packet to fill out before your session. It is as simple as that!
